About the Project
The effects of climate change are unequally distributed geographically, among and within countries, and across different identities. Those who contribute the most to climate change and profit from it are often the least affected. This imbalance of power, where those with influence are not the ones suffering the consequences, creates an unfair and inequitable system for change.
To address this, we need transformative movements both within and outside institutions. We must recognise the necessity for institutional change in decision-making, policymaking, and social impact. This includes valuing indigenous knowledge, supporting bottom-up solutions, and amplifying the voices of the most marginalised. Breaking away from old patterns of conducting business, we should build bridges between diverse actors who typically do not collaborate and establish a common language. It is essential for all system participants to actively contribute to building a decolonial and just climate justice movement.
The Critical Policy Lab will implement the Project Knowledge and Action Labs on Critical Climate Justice, funded by the Bosh Alumni Network Call for Ideas 2024. Running from July to December 2024. This project will consist of 4-5 online sessions aimed at bringing together diverse audiences to explore the scope and significance of 'critical policymaking,' particularly in the context of climate change.
Scope of Work
The Graphic Designer / Communication Specialist will lead the creation of a cohesive visual identity and communication strategy for the project. This includes developing visuals and graphics for various social media platforms and supporting the strategic development of communication pieces during and after the project. Ad-hoc communication support will be provided as needed. As the Critical Policy Lab is a young organisation, there will be ample opportunity for personal input, development, and creative freedom in the work
